Poster ChicagoChristianLeft mentioned on Kos' Diary "Dean's the Man" that Senator Barak Obama has joined the group of Dems criticizing Howard Dean's so-called intemperate remarks about the Republicans being a white Christian party. He gave a link to write to Obama which I followed and left the following message:

When you spoke at the Democratic Convention last year, I marvelled at the mature vision that you presented to our party. I am so disappointed that you chose to criticize Howard Dean to the press at the Rock the Vote Awards Dinner.

We have a nation divided and a Democratic Party on its knees. We do not need Democrats criticizing Democrats to a press that has been hostile to and biased toward the Democratic Party.

If you were truly offended by Dean's comment, you should have communicated that to him directly. Instead, you lost an opportunity to use a press opportunity to foster the Democratic Party's aims.

You could have said, "Dr. Dean's choice of words was unfortunate, but what I think he was trying to say was . . . and follow that with Democratic talking points. We get little enough time to present those points to waste time with the press criticizing each other.

Personally, I support Howard Dean's "badass" act because 1) it is precisely that - political theater; and 2) a Democrat is finally talking to the Republicans in a way that a) they've been using with us for too long; and b) the Republicans don't know how to handle it when the shoe is on the other foot.

Now, do you want to use your time at bat with the media bad-mouthing a fellow Democrat? or do you want to use the opportunity to further Democratic goals?

I hope for more from you, Senator.
